Megaship Interactions
Ship manufacturers have improved their vessels with cargo bays, data terminals and comms arrays, as well as automated defense turrets to protect them from pirate and Thargoid attack.
I don’t care what the Pilots Federation is asking you to do. This is an opportunity to make some credits. Find those ships and loot them. There are rich pickings to be had for pilots who don’t mind breaking the rules…

New flow for scanning megaships and installations:
- You will need limpet controllers of various types (hatchbreaker, recon, collector).
- You may want to equip a manifest scanner.
- Fly into a scenario.
- Target megaship/installation contact and scan with the ship’s data scanner. Doing so will release a scan pulse that highlights all interaction objects attached to the ship.
- Interaction objects are added to the ship’s contacts panel and can now be targeted and interrogated to discover how to interact with them.
- Target one of these objects and within a 200 metre range use the datalink scanner to interrogate it.
- A successful scan will show any sub-targets the object has. These sub-targets are selectable in the sub-target panel.
- Interaction objects are added to the ship’s contacts panel and can now be targeted and interrogated to discover how to interact with them.
- Limpet performs its function
The interactions will be as follows:
- Cargo bays.
- Hack the doors using a hatchbreaker limpet to jettison the cargo into space. Gives would-be pirates a new target and source of income.
- Data terminals.
- Use recon limpets to gain access to secured data materials.
- Comms arrays.
- Use recon limpets to hack into the ship’s comm system and steal valuable data. This gives you higher yield than data terminals.
- Automated-defence turrets.
- Scan the turret to discover the location of the connected generator. Disabling the generator will shut down the turret for a set amount of time.
One thing to note is that all current interactions are considered illegal, tying in with the changes to crime and punishment (Ed’s Link). These give criminal pilots new gameplay options, as well as giving lawful players new locations to find wanted pilots.
In addition to the interactions we have tweaked the scenarios around the megaships to include a greater variety of criminal and lawful pilots, as well as crime responders such as police ships to add a bit more spice to these locations.
