AppConfigLocal

You can tweak your network settings with this file : AppConfigLocal.xml. This file remains intact even if updates are pushed out.

<AppConfig>
<Network Port=”0″ upnpenabled=”1″ LogFile=”netLog” DatestampLog=”1″ ReportSentLetters=”1″ ReportReceivedLetters=”1″ VerboseLogging=”1″> MaxUpRate=”250000″</Network>
</AppConfig>

Note : UPnP is on and MaxUpRate = 250Kb/s

What is MaxUpRate ?

In the game if a player is authority of too many entities within the game and their internet speed cannot handle it then the authority will be assigned to another player. This is the system we have in place to ensure the multiplayer is as smooth as possible. You can limit the amount that the game uploads if you wish. In your AppConfig.xml you’ll see a section labelled “Network” Insert this line anywhere in that block: MaxUpRate=”250000″

Check your internet connection is stable

Please follow the steps below to check that your internet connection is stable during the times you encounter disruptions:

Open a command prompt by typing “cmd” in to the search field in the start bar menu

  • ping -t -l 900 bbc.co.uk or ping -t -l 8.8.8.8
  • Press Return and then leave that running and start the game
  • If you get a server disconnection, check the command prompt window and see if there were any disruptions in your ping or failures around the same time.
  • If there are extended or inconsistent delays in your results this indicates your connection may be unstable.

Useful Commands :

  • netstat -ab | more
  • ipconfig /all
  • tracert 83.222.231.12
  • ping 83.222.231.12 -t -l 900
  • nslookup 83.222.231.12
